The year is 2097. In this harrowing dystopian tale, the world is ruled by one corporation: Better World industries. They came into power after the devastating Hydrogen Wars of 2015. They have turned the world into a technology-dependent society where politicians are the top dogs. At age 18, disciples are taken from academy to take the test—the test that determines their place in society as a worker, soldier, or politician. Tezra Tanith goes into her test hoping to be a worker; or more specifically, a computer technician. The test is not what she thinks it will be, and when she is assigned soldier, she is disappointed. Taken to Fox’s Den to train, she meets Solomon Aspidel, another soldier in training who comes from the rough deserts of High Peak. After a rough beginning, they soon become friends, going through the harsh training together. After training, Tezra, Solomon, and their squad are shipped to the borderland district of Boring Circle. In Boring Circle their duty is to put down the aberrations that are threatening to rise against the Capitol. Tezra and Solomon meet Beowulf, a rogue of his own accord, who tells them he was once a politician in the Capitol. He tells them all of the Capitol’s dirty, corrupt secrets, and Tezra and Solomon begin to question everything they have ever been told. A rebellion is forming in the borderland districts to overthrow the Capitol and put the world in a better place. Torn between what she has known, and what she knows now, Tezra is forced to choose—the rebellion, or her Capitol? All Rights Reserved. © 2014

    We Were Stardust Once
They were born from the stars, but the world refuses to let them stay. It has been three years since the Genesis Flares, the solar phenomenon that gave birth to Astrans: beings with abilities beyond human comprehension. Some see them as miracles, others as abominations but to those in power, they are a threat that must be controlled, exploited, or eradicated. Fear spreads like wildfire, and war is inevitable. Among the displaced and the hunted, a survivor fights to carve out a future for her people, refusing to let them be erased from history. By her side stands the one who saved her, a sister in all but blood, a friend who has vowed to protect her, even if it means keeping dangerous secrets. As alliances fracture and loyalties are tested, they must navigate a world that has already decided what they are: enemies. In the heart of the conflict, two minds once dedicated to progress now wrestle with the weight of their own creations. One, a scientist bound by failing health, seeks to undo the greatest mistake of his life before time runs out. The other, an engineer thrust unwillingly into war, struggles between duty, regret, and the burden of being the only one left to fight. Lines blur between vengeance and justice, survival and sacrifice. The choices they make will determine not only the outcome of the war but the future of the Astrans themselves. Before the war, before the fear, they were all the same. They were all stardust once.

Book Two: They encourage, not the realists and the brave, but the gullible and the fragile, those too weak to fight back. They massacre lower and middle-class citizens once every month to control the growing population through a method called Cleansing. They rid of all music except modern pop to eliminate diversity, keeping only one artist from each state in the music industry. They stop anyone from going in or out of the country and kick out all those not born within the now-armed borders. And that's just the beginning of what they call "The Great Reformation," the grand change of the United States government and all of its operations. All because the United Kingdom has turned against the nation and declared war, or so President Nathaniel Carter says. Carter, as the dictator, begins to tell citizens certain things, things that Ryan Tedder and his bandmates, Zach, Eddie, Brent, and Drew, don't actually buy. After all, physicist Niels Bohr once said, "The best weapon of a dictatorship is secrecy." Along with this chaos, Ryan is trying to deal with the stress of Ramona becoming distant due to her past reappearing, and the new rules and regulations making his career walk on a tightrope. The national anthem may say otherwise, but the United States is no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. Not with the new government. Ryan and the other guys are determined to dig through the lies and find the real reason why. © 2016 by Verona Rohellec. Second installment of the Blooming Passion trilogy. Complete. Mature language.
