At the start of this story we meet two 7 year old girls, Piper and Peyton.
Piper and Peyton always play in the woods and have a limit of how deep they're allowed in, but today they decided it was a good idea to go deeper into the woods. After Peyton goes missing piper's life never seems to be the same.
After 10 years Piper still hasn't been able to move on fully and doesn't really want to get close to anyone else in case she loses them too, but will that all change when she meets Mason Moore?
Mason is piper's next door neighbour who is the most popular boy in school and always seems to get what he wants. Mason wants Piper, but Piper doesn't want to get close to anyone. Will Mason get a chance with Piper or will she shut him down?

I felt a hand under my chin and then I was looking right into Aiden's eyes. "You know that I care about you, right?" He used the same hushed tone. Aiden cared about me? Well, I knew he cared about me, but I didn't know he cared about me. It makes sense. I shrugged. "I don't know," I replied back. "Well, I do. I care about you so much." He whispered. His next move surprised me. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on my lips that lasted about two seconds before backing away. I looked at the ground, shocked. Oh my god. Aiden just kissed me. Again. And I liked it. A lot. *** Corey Hale and Aiden Praxston don't like each other. At all. Never have, never will. She hates him and he hates her; so she thinks. What Corey doesn't know is that Aiden doesn't, in fact, hate her. He feels the complete opposite. But when the schools bad boy admits he wants her she doesn't know what to do. Astren City, and all surrounding area, have the highest crime rate in the northern part of the country. Dozens of crime families constantly trying to take the throne, as well as corruption lurking around every corner, do not aid in that fact at all. Salem Heart's father, Jack Heart, happens to be the Astren City Chief of Police, a title which holds a lot of weight and a rank that claims even more power. He's well respected, and amazing at his job. That said, greatness is expected of Salem as well. Of course that isn't a problem, Salem will always be loyal to the law. He was raised by it, and upholding it is his future career aspiration. He thinks he has his life figured out. The fact that his ex-boyfriend comes from a notorious crime family, and has been arrested several times by Jack's own department, doesn't matter. Salem's passed that, he's over Atlas Marino and he always will be. He will ignore that scratch in his record, and cover it up with his success. Salem is offered a job to help with an investigation that could benefit his future career astronomically. He thinks it's a win-win situation, he gets the recognition he desires, and the streets will be that much safer. It's all black and white to him, easy to understand.
