Centuries ago, the Tenebris, a mysterious race of obsidian skinned people, opened a portal to Earth and invaded. Shortly after their arrival, the Elders, Faerie, and Mage guilds followed and defended Earth.
Within weeks, the Tenebris were driven back to their world. Soon after, the Elders had influence in the governments of the world. The Mage guild was forced into hiding by the Elders. The Faerie secluded themselves in uninhabited areas and only communicated with the other races when they needed to trade or were desperate. The Men of Earth mostly went back to their normal lives. Occasionally they revolt against the Elders.
Over time, the Mage guild began to come out of hiding and those who did joined the Coven, an international community of Warlocks, Witches, Crones, Sages, and all other forms of magic users. Members of the Coven take jobs for the other races, the jobs varying from delivering messages to carrying out assassinations.

Guardians of the Light (Book 1: Rebirth)
Many centuries ago, an unspoken darkness swept across the land taking all that was light and pure in the world with it. Creatures of this darkness roamed free to spread the darkness wherever they went consuming any trace of light remaining. In order to stop The Darkness from controlling the world, a group of priests took the remaining pieces of light and placed them within the body of two chosen children. They became known as the Children of the Light. Their sacrifice was not in vain, leaving behind spoken words for the next generation of children born with the pure light energy within them. Over time an organisation built on these words was formed called The Guardians, who were tasked to seek out the next chosen children and protect them from The Darkness should it rise again. Present day we find ourselves in a small city named New Haeven that has become the centre of the secret world of light and dark.The current story follows a Guardian by the name of Ronin. Ronin saw the faces of the new Children of the Light and was tasked by the Elders to track them down and protect them at all costs.The children were both college students and were one male and one female whose names were James Hillman and Sara Danvers..When Ronin went to see he ran into a ghost from his past, Lillian. The story continues on with Ronin seeking answers from the Elders about how a Guardian could come back from the dead.Complete

My curse just gave them a reason. You see, the normal population with ordinary DNA, they don't know about the people like me. The roaches of the world. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. Jennasis-Adult Fantasy--Har and Jenna, both fleeing execution, are banished to an unpopulated parallel world. When the high priestess who sentenced Jenna to death discovers the ability to cross to the "Inside" world and the existence of the new society, the refugees are threatened by the tyranny they hoped to escape. **Jennasis is about twenty years old. I wrote it before I knew about such things as passive voice and POV. I'm editing it now, and it's still a bit of a mess, but I love this story. I just pulled it out of my file and went to work. The First in the old Series! As the 21st century continues, Mankind is completely unaware of a whole other world that shares the planet with them. A world deliberately concealed for both of their sakes. A world mankind has forgotten. A world of magic. Citizens of this world are at risk of being discovered every second of every day, as our jets, boats, and even undersea cables run through their lands in the middle of the three major oceans spanning our planet. The only luxury protecting them is their long tradition of remaining forgotten by humans beyond their borders, and their magic making that tradition a reality. But as life goes on for the likes of Atlantean's like Gemini and Paige, a mysterious threat begins to emerge; to Atlantis in particular.
