This was a short story I wrote for my English class. We were given the prompt, "the things you carry", because we are currently reading "The Things They Carried" By Tim O'Brian. I got a little carried away with it... But I'm proud of it nonetheless. This story is about loneliness, and how one's thoughts can weigh on their shoulders.

A Hymn To Humanity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Simple things around us can hold so many stories behind them. Like that old toy you always played with when you were little, now standing on your shelf, collecting dust. Or like that plush you have been enviously keeping on your bed ever since you bought it. Or like that one item you and your friends still have to reminish old, happy memories. Or even a streetlight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: 1. This is a short novel, so it will contain very few chapters, expect very little for this story. 2. May be triggering to some, consult the tags. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
