I started writing this book 13 May 2008 It takes you through our whole experience of rising up and prospering in South Africa - even under a racist ANC government. I've written this book as an inspiration, that even in the face of huge adversity, you can come out on the other side and make it. However, my wish for you is not to only "make it" - but live your best life. I invite you to come on this journey with us. It was sometimes an emotional rollercoaster with many trials and tribulations, but the end result was worth it. This book is very special and unique in the sense that it was started and written while I was at the lowest point in my life with no salvation in sight... It's wasn't written in hindsight or after the fact. It started with hope, a dream, a promise. You will see when you start going through these pages - If I could make it, surely you can. Just a naive 10-year-old enjoying what life threw at her. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But I didn't. I longed for more. With my lemons, I wanted lemonade, lemon cake, lemon pie, honey and lemon juice, lemon tea, and even lemon water!" I guess now I can't have any of that anymore, right? I messed up big time, and I'll bear the consequences for it all. I just have one wish though... It's as though I'd have been better off never entering this world in the first place.

The house next door goes up for sale, the dreaded day arrives in which its been sold and now the only thing left is to find out whose moving in. "Good news hunny the new neighbours are moving in today and I've invited them around for dinner" my mum said excitedly. "And I'm supposed to be excited because...." if my tone doesn't give it away, I'm not excited for new neighbours, my best friend lived in that house but after a tragic accident that took her life her parents decided to up and sell. "I appreciate that its hard but the Hunts are a lovely family and they have children one is slightly older than you and the other is a few months younger, and I suggest you play nice" my mum warned. "Are you joking me mum! no matter who moves in next door nothing will change, Lily is dead and no matter how friendly you are to the Hunts they will never replace Lily!" I shouted getting more and more angry as I vented. A thumb swiftly wiped the tear from my cheek that I hadn't even realised had fell, it was my dad. "Oh baby girl don't cry, it will all be okay, we don't want you to replace Lily but we do want you to be civil at least because what happened was not your fault or the Hunts okay" my dad cooed as he soothed me and sent me upstairs to get ready for the welcoming dinner.

I can remember the fear of the tree falling in front of my car, after it was struck by lightning. I can remember how it felt, cold rain on a summer afternoon pounded on my skin as I stepped out of my car. I was headed home to my parents house after graduating college.
