Thorned Rose is a book not totally centred on romance, there's the throes of the society part. Two characters acting out the obviousness of everything in our society. Issues hiding in plain sight. my mother is black, do I have to end up black? questions asked that society would consider irrelevant and unnecessary are somewhat answered in this book. Tatiana and Omar the major characters in the book set out on a quest not for themselves but for you to understand what is like to have a mask on your true self. with Tatiana, a lawyer whose layers are totally unpeeled destroying lives around her without so much as a conscious effort, Omar taking it upon himself to unravel those layers. the question is with what? romance or investigation? To Helen the ever sassy secretary, Sarah the meek follower, Isabella the ever cautious friend, Kazeem, the whimsy and contradicting play by the rules type. Who's getting picked or pricked by love and romance???
