This story is during what happened  in the war and after the war.
Okita Sougo was fighting together with Hijikata when both got struck by the blade of Utsuro. They were unconscious for a while but they stood up again fighting. Or that what it seems to look like. 

Now after the war:
The Yorozuya obviously won the fight and defeated Utsuro. But the after event of it is not joyful. The story revolves around Okita and Kagura relationship after the war.
