Samuel Lee Jackson is an aspiring artist, but she's been having strange problems at school lately not only is she being bullied about her name, but her sketch book has gotten destroyed in a freak accident. It only gets weirder when she meets Smith, a greasy-haired boy who comes to school with some strange new scars on his second day there... what is he hiding?

Smith Floyd is new at Arnesten Middle-High School. He was never really a social kind of guy, and his family history would scare most other people away from him... but a girl named Sam seems to be drawn in to his strange background, and even shares his special, hidden ability... what else do they have in common?
