20 years after the creation of a world-operating and total-governing AI system, Onix Kiyati finds himself among many other refugees in Japan, hiding in the lower-city ruins from Government Enforcement and Anti-Riot (GEAR) Patrols, who have orders to execute any individuals found with natural genetic super-instincts called Special Skills.
Inspired by the events of an article written about an old resistance group known as K.W.A.H., Onix dons the persona of Cryptic Fox the Augur and joins forces with other inspired young adults in a growing resistance movement known as Syndicate ZERO, who have set out on a dangerous mission to shut down the AI known as UniCore Index.
