Ever since Riley Hope was 4 years old, all she's ever dreamed about is dancing and making music. It was how she could really express herself. Until a fatal accident one day and took away her creative side. Now Riley focuses on getting good grades, playing volleyball, being student body president and working as a waitress at Tatiana's 80's Diner just to keep herself busy. Riley may not dance herself anymore, but she absolutely loves teaching kids and seeing their faces light up. Every time Riley is alone and gets the urge to dance again, she holds back, knowing it'll bring up too many unwanted memories. Then enters Ryder O'Conner. Baseball player, musician with the famous parents that everyone can't stop talking about. The parents that are never around. Ryder wants to be known for his accomplishments, praised for his hard work. He just wants to be normal but normal is so overrated apparently. When these two finally meet, they soon realize that the only people holding them back is themselves. And through spending time together, they finally get back what they've been missing. They discover adventure, friendship, and the people they truly want to be.

He also just happens to be the one person who truly understands the meaning behind her heart-wrenching song. What happens when fate brings her face-to-face with the boy she thought she'd never see again? Nicky quickly realizes airing her emotions out in public via a number-one, hit song can make things complicated fast. As Nate and Nicky reconnect and navigate through their past, truths are revealed, assumptions are at an all-time high, and a publicity nightmare looms which jeopardizes all she's worked so hard for. While Nicky's misfortunes add up, she realizes fame comes with a price. She begins to understand the cold, hard facts, keeping her career intact as country's "it" girl and maintaining a personal life may be more difficult than it sounds, especially when you're living through a public scandal.
