'"You can't just keep risking your life like this," I said. I was painfully aware of how selfish I sounded, how selfish I am. She was, too. It was written all over her face. 
 " People need me! " she exclaimed, her ordinary brown eyes brimmed with such human tears. It was easy to forget what she was. 
 "I need you." My voice was soft. She looked at me with such despair, but I couldn't help myself.
Finally, she looked away. Her shoulders slumped, her hair fell in front of her eyes. When she spoke, her voice cracked in defeat. "I can't save everyone." 


hey hey hey. can we talk about how the protagonist is ALWAYS the hero, the one with powers? im here to change that and (hopefully) keep it exciting.
