Peace had been a war fought for and won by the Originals inside of the dome, and they lived in their own heads after the tragedies they experienced. People like Ilya were born inside the dome, and they lived happily and carefree, unknowing of the terrors outside - the terrors the Originals had never failed to forget.
Suddenly, the Originals nightmares become reality once again when a geostorm destroys the dome protecting the citizens inside from the cold outside. Within seconds, hell has broken loose and many have died; frozen in their final state of fear. It's a battle for Ilya's life, and she is unsure that she has anyone else to fight it with her. With no other options and no wish to stay surrounded by the frozen lives she had loved, she wonders off into the harsh and dangerous world, stepping outside of the fractured dome.
She has no one and there is no possible way anyone else is surviving the cold and deadly creatures that play, or so she thinks.
