Meet Emily - Emily has tried to fit in with her big family. But it was hard. Now, at the age of 27, she finds herself stuck with her sisters 7 year-old child. When she finds that Ruth had never met Grandpa and Grandma, she went right along, not realizing what she was doing

Introducing Rachel - The 35 year-old who has a cheating husband. Rachel is so frustrated with her 6 year-old daughter, Alice. She finds she is very independent, and she feels that she can do everything herself, but in times of need, everybody needs their family.

Sam announces herself ....... After Sam was returned mysteriously, passed out, with a note. Her family tries to bring her strength back, but the only one who seemed to do that was Emily "After a decade of being kidnapped, she deserves it." That was what Emily said when she quit her job and after, was at her parents house 24/7. When Sam was healthy again, she went to military school in Virginia instead of going back to college. Her parents would speak nothing of her after that. Emily was the only one who supported her, when she graduated, Emily was the only one there. When she had a child, Emily was the only one there, when she was chosen as a lieutenant to fight in Vietnam...

Here comes Fiona - Being the youngest of the true blood in the Ferder family, she has been taken for granted. (Also because they were annoyed when they found out she'd gotten into Harvard, they had made her life miserable.). But finally free, out of college, she finds herself broke, and not wanting to admit the truth to the rest of her family, admitting that she needs them. She turns to the sibling, the one who graduated college at 20 and wouldn't speak to Michael Ferder for 2 years. Now, she just appeared and was the star of everything, taking the spotlight, but Fiona knew Emily was her only shot at redemption.
