Death allowed him to "live" on a deal. Now he is captain of a ship known as the Black Crow,  under the name Captain Demos Muertos. He plans to disrupt the ceremony for his "father" when he runs in to Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. He decided to help Will find Elizabeth simply to spite his "father". What happens when death turns it in to a mission.
