Bryan has a family of three sisters and a mom, his dad dead from disease. Bryan gets a letter from the draft saying he needs to fight in the war, and so does his friend Mitch.
The conditions are terrible, and Bryan thinks he is getting trench foot. One day he is told he is needed for a stakeout mission outside the trenches, but Mitch takes his place.
