Have you ever wondered what it would be like, knowing your soulmate is out there somewhere? Well, for Alissa her life was all about focusing on herself, and getting her college degree. That was until a mysterious rose appeared on her arm, and all she knew, is that she didn't put it there.
After reading a super non credible Tumblr blog dedicated to a similar situation she was in. She discovered it had stories written about what the author was going through, it slowly made Alissa think, maybe there is someone connected to her, and she's dying to ask, "why a rose?"

Until you find your soulmate the world is in black and white until you meet your soulmate. When you turn 18 a tattoo of your soulmate's first word to you appears on your arm. If you're older than your soulmate you stay 18 until he/she/they catch up. When Harry wakes up on his 13th birthday he notices two things. 1. The room is in color. 2. In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper. When you turn 14, you get a tattoo that describes your soulmate. As you spend more time with them, it gets more detailed. But when you kiss your soulmate for the first time, you tattoo glows and shows their name. But this only happens when it is love and love only. (So if you just kiss someone to kiss them then your tattoo won't glow) As for your soulmate dying, your tattoo turns black and shows a small picture of them with their name under. After three days it goes away and you never get another tattoo. Disclaimer: I do not own the PJO or HoO characters. I wish I did though, but sadly that title belongs to Uncle Rick.
