I walked down the dark, cold alley. By this time of night, you could hear the extremely loud sirens and the screams of young women.

I pulled my hood over my head more and headed to my usual corner. I looked around to check my surroundings. It's not safe out here in these streets but I have no choice. The bright lights blinded my eyes as I cut the street. Entering the dark part of the street, I stood in my corner.

I propped my leg up on the building and waited for my customers to come through.

"I think it's best we stay cordial while we're here. You know, avoid any awkwardness," I say, trying to sound casual. Jay leans against the doorframe, his eyes flickering with amusement as he watches me. "You want to be friends?" "No. I mean, not friends. Just civil," I answer, a little too quickly. "Okay. I can do civil," he says, his gaze never leaving mine like he is trying hard to read me. I look away, suddenly too exposed beneath his gaze. Damnit! This is going to be harder than I thought. - It was a moment. One that could have turned into something more.Until she walked away. Eight months later, Ira has to face him again. And this time, there's nowhere to run. Not for at least a week. After all, it's her best friend's wedding and he's invited too. So, she does what she's always done best-pretend. Pretend nothing happened. Pretend he didn't matter. Pretend her heart didn't skip a beat the second she saw him again. But Jay? He's not playing pretend. With that maddening smile and the kind of charm that should come with a warning, he's determined to remind her of everything she's tried to forget- even the years she's spent years mastering the art of detachment. He's the only one who's ever come close to reaching the version of her that she thought, she had buried long ago. And that's what makes him dangerous. Because she shouldn't return to who she was. She's ice. And he? He's the fire that never stopped burning. The real question is: Can she let his fire thaw the ice that's long been her shield?

My tears drop on the diamonds already stained with my blood. His thumb strokes my cheek and removes a strand of my disheveled hair. -It's okay, Pea. It's over. His lips find mine. His kiss is soft at first, to comfort me. Then it gets more intense, possessive. Our eyes meet. His are burning. -I will never let anyone hurt you again. I promise. You are mine and mine only, Cassiopea Medina. ****** In rural Colombia, Cassiopea is just starting her young adult life. She wants to leave behind a poor and unstable family to live an easy life. She gets an unexpected offer from the boss of the local cartel. To get married to him and be the stepmother of his three sons. The twist? He already has a lover. How will the life of a cartel leader's wife treat Cassiopea? ****** Author's notes The story is written with the first-person POV of a young 19-year-old woman. I tried my best not to let my (older) brain made her sound too mature for her age... There are scenes of violence, death, domestic abuse, alcoholism and sexual content, please be advised. In chapters with * there will be mature content. Also, I had a hard time choosing the male lead character... At the end, the story flow and the characters decided for me. So, if you are up for a little game, try finding this ML before he reveals himself! Finally, English is not my native language. I'm sorry if you find grammatical mistakes. Don't hesitate to let me know! Ranking #1 cartel (2025-12-19) #2 colombia (2025-12-01) #3 bodyguard (2025-12-21) #5 fight for survival (2025-12-01)

"Is it a turn off?" She flashes a grin, revealing her perfect white teeth, inching her face closer to mine. Oh no, she's definitely flirting, and suddenly my palms are sweating. My heart pounds because I know I can't play her game. Not because I don't want to, but because-well, I'm not into girls. At least, I thought I wasn't. "I don't know. I can't really explain how other girls feel about it when you date them," I shrug awkwardly, trying to keep my cool. She chuckles softly, shaking her head, and the air between us thickens with tension. What's her game? "Forget other girls. How do *you* feel about it?" she presses, her voice low and teasing. I shift uncomfortably, squirming under her gaze. "If I were a lesbian, then no. No, it wouldn't be a turn-off," I stammer, feeling the nervousness creep up my spine. "You sure?" Her voice is honey, tempting. Meet Jay Alden, 23 years old and still figuring life-and love-out. She's always been straight... well, more like straight as a squiggly line. That is, until Ky Guery entered her life. Ky, a confident 22-year-old who's comfortable with her sexuality, flirts with ease and has Jay questioning everything she thought she knew about herself. Ky's carefree attitude and playful charm make Jay feel warm, giddy, and utterly confused all at once. One moment she's sure she's straight, the next she's drowning in Ky's kisses, wondering if maybe, just maybe, she's been wrong all along. But falling for Ky isn't just about self-discovery-it's about trust, too. Jay's been burned before by a smooth-talking ex-boyfriend, and Ky's playful ways sometimes remind her too much of that heartbreak. She's caught between the thrill of something new and the fear of getting hurt again. Does she dare open her heart, or will Ky's unpredictability push her away for good? Jay's journey is one of love, confusion, and self-acceptance as she navigates the messy middle ground between what she thought she knew and what she's starting to feel.
