In a world where people extract oil from blood, 16 year old Autumn and her best friend Noah have the most rare and valuable blood type, making them top prey for the blood oil industry. With the help of Autumn's brother, William, they escape their town to the abandoned edges of the country to avoid being killed for their blood by the Blodjegers, the assassins who work for the Oilers. Despite having escaped the Blodjegers once before, Autumn and Noah are still being hunted, and it's getting harder and harder to hide. They start to realize that their only hope is to escape to the neighboring country, and maybe even persuade them to put an end to the system from their home.
