Our society had failed. That's the cold hard truth. We thought we were unbreakable. We thought we were out of the clear. That we could make, destroy, and scar anything we wanted. We thought we were at the top of the food chain.     We were wrong.     Dead wrong.     The first to go was the power. The whole grid went down. Nothing survived. It all happened when Dr. Tynd tried switching us to a cleaner energy source. Apparently, it wasn't as safe as he claimed. The entire thing blew up destroying the control panel.     The next were guns and cars. After the power went down it was only a matter of days before the cars followed. We're not quite sure what happened with the guns. One day they just quit working. All that they were good for now was making an annoying clicking sound.     Everything else followed. Countries fell in flames. Including the U.S. We had come up with a new way to live. Without the electricity, cars, or anything else from before. We separated ourselves by skill. Each formed a clan that would do it's part for our new society.     There were three clans. The Braves, who protected the borders, were similar to the army. The Intellectual, who were anything from teachers all the way down to doctors. The Ags, who were quite similar to what the cowboys used to be. They farmed our food and raised cattle and such other things.     We gave up on money, we bartered with items now. Traveling? Well, horses, obviously. But also people would ride donkeys, cows, and anything that could hold you up. There wasn't any official government. Just a committee that met every six months. But it was different people every time.     This was the life we had. The life I had.     My name's Dakota Austin, I am fifteen years old, and five ten. I am part of the Ags, I missed my chance to leave this clan two years ago. My hair is naturally curly and a golden brown. My eyes are hazel.     This is my story.

|HAS BEEN REWRITTEN| She was kind. He was heartless. She saw the good in everyone despite her past. He saw nothing but hatred for others because of his past. He was the Alpha. Alpha Grayson, a man who's had a childhood no one would ever wish for, believes that his mate is best off without him but he can't live without her. Is she willing to accept his past and move on? ********* I thought about all the obstacles I had to overcome to get to where I am today as I walked towards my sons crib. Everything I went through was worth it. "Don't worry, mommy's coming," I said in a baby voice hoping to comfort him even though he wasn't crying. My heart dropped in my chest when I saw it was empty. No baby in sight. "Gray!," I screamed loudly like I was getting stabbed over and over again. He ran into the nursery, scanning the area for any danger. "He's gone! Our baby's gone!" His eyebrows furrowed as his eyes softened realising what happened. Just as quick as it came, it vanished and he was back with the icy look in his eye. The one he had when we first met. For a moment, I was afraid of him going back to his old self before dismissing that thought and focusing on my missing newborn son. Don't worry, I'm coming for you, my little bubba... Will the angel given to him melt the Alphas ice solid façade or not? Is she helping him escape his darkness or is she dragging him into hers? Read to find out... Cover by @belladz07
