All Serena Whitehall has ever wanted was to fit in. Something that is a bit hard to do when you can hear the thoughts of everyone around you. Unable to control this strange and unwanted ability, Serena isolates herself, often by listening to music or staying away from group interactions entirely. 

As one can imagine, this has put quite the strain on her social life.

Enter Sebastian Dewitt, Serena's opposite in every way - he's handsome, charming, and despite being new in school, he is insanely popular. 

Despite making an extra effort to avoid him, for some odd reason, he focuses his attention on her. Stranger still, Serena soon discovers that his thoughts are a mystery to her. In fact, when he's around, the world at large is a much quieter place. 

As Serena searches for answers, to both her past and her present,  she finds herself facing off again dangerous enemies, both human and ethereal, the least of those being love.
