"Darkness" is a poem written by George Gordon Byron, known as Lord Byron, in 1816, the "Year Without a Summer". That year was given its name because of severe climate abnormalities that occurred.
Given the circumstances, the poem is about the end of the world, and how the remaining living creatures behaved themselves in a pessimist point of view.
