Two years after the end of The Inheritance Cycle (one year after FWW), we follow Murtagh and Thorn as they hurry across Alagaesia, trying to warn their friends of a potential threat, and unravel the mystery of a witch stalking across the land. Murtagh faces past demons and Thorn tries to convince him to accept the love and help of his family and friends. In the time Eragon has been absent from Alagaësia, the riders have fallen to vices. Few have been able to raise to fulfill the roles the riders had originally been given, and a dark sect-reminiscent of the Foresworn-has risen to power. The Dark Hours - Eragon Fanfic
(Essentially a detailed account of what happened to Murtagh from his capture under Farthen Dur until Galbatorix's fall, framed by his new life at Mt.
