The Space Between Us

"Please.." He mumbled, grabbing the other person's hand tightly, as if he was afraid they'd slip away right then. "Please, if you promise me nothing else, promise me that you won't die."

The person in question stared at him for a moment, then, overcome with emotions of awkward love, pervading stress, and a profound sadness, they burst into laughter. "Don't worry. I'm too nerdy to die."
