Once she discovers that she is pregnant, her mother tells her she has a certain amount of time to get a job, if she's still unemployed then she has to get out. Once at the end of her rope with time running out, she begs the owner of a popular juke joint in her Cleveland, MS neighborhood to give her a job despite her age. When things go from bad to worse in her broken home, she decides to leave on her own despite the fact that she has nowhere else to go. She finds solace in her surly and somewhat reclusive boss Mr. Tan. While he reluctantly takes her under his wing, he discovers her beautiful singing voice and tries his best to shelter her from so much, including himself. Eventually, a relationship blossoms between them with many possibilities in store.

First of all, if a feel like ANY characteristics of this book are base off of one of your ideas, feel free to take some credit or something, but it's still MY story, not yours. This is my first book and I don't want get in trouble with anyone. Also, please don't judge me TOO harshly, I just wanted to have some fun and write a book. Don't blame me if you find it a little cliché. I also wrote all of it on my iPad. (Tasha, Chloe, and Alexis are al based off my friends in real life, but Emalisa IS NOT based of me (they got it in their heads that she is)) Emalisa Uldweyna Ra'naa Truesa has had a VERY rough past. What happened, you'll have to read the book. Jaxon Udolf Samuel Tonalay, on the other hand, has a great life. His mother's a chef at a restaurant, which his family owns, his sister goes to the college where his dad's the head dean, and him and his younger twin siblings have amazing grades in school. What'll happen when Emalisa un expectantly falls on Jaxon? He becomes undeniably interested with and in her. Emalisa feels a connection too, but is scared to react on it. The fact that their friends undeniably are head over heels for another doesn't help their situation and provides endless things to tease one another about. So please do read. If you think I should add something more to the description, feel free to tell me, but you have to read the book first! ALSO ALSO ALSO!!!!!!!!!! It could possibly be triggering later on, so I don't suggest reading it if life's been particularly shitty to you about some things. SERIOUSLY!!!!!

After being caught, tried and arrested for a crime she didn't do; Lexi Hunter has a choice. It's either Juvie or spend the summer on her dad's ranch working off her probation. Should be an easy pick, right? Only problem is, she hasn't seen or spoken to her dad in ten years. The last time she saw him was through a car window as her mom drove them and all their possessions away to go live a normal, busy, eccentric lifestyle in New York. So basically, being back at a place she used to call home with a man she can't muster the respect for to actually call 'dad', is a prison sentence in itself. Lexi is determined to hate and ridicule everything about her situation. Wanting nothing more than to get the summer over with so she can go back to real life. That all changes when she meets Dawson Priest; the ranch hand who she is forced to work side by side with. His optimistic, simple, almost eloquent outlook on life, the world, and the small town ranch life in general sparks her to see things from his perspective and may even challenge her enough to mend the strained relationship with her dad. This is a story of self discovery, personal growth, a steamy cowboy fling, and learning the importance of forgiveness. This simple, small town life may not seem as much of a jail sentence by the end of the summer. Who knows, maybe Lexi turns out to be a country girl at heart after all.
