Addie Heathfield has had a rough year. Her brother, who she idolizes, is in the army and she hasn't gotten any letters for the past few months. Her breakup at the end of the previous school year left her the victim of terrible bullying due to her ex-boyfriend spreading some, um, private pictures. She thinks she is at the end of her line until her brother comes back with a painfully handsome man in tow.
Carter Lawson doesn't have anyone outside of the army. His last foster care family kicked him out at 16. The army seemed God sent. They accepted him and made him feel like he had the makings of a new family. Then, one of the men in his regiment offers to house him during a break. When he gets to the house, he meets the sister. She's closed off and angry at the world. He gets that like no one else.
Addie doesn't want to get involved with Carter. Carter knows it's a bad idea to care for Addie. But everything about her draws him in and he makes her feel safe.
This is a bad idea.

Amy has has the best life, she has good friends, a good parent, and the best boys chasing after her, but when a new guy, zack, comes and moves right across the street her whole life changes. if you want the first three chapters I will summarize them. chapter 1 Amy is getting ready for her date with a boy from the school that she has been wanting to ask in a long time. but he doesn't come and just disappears from the state. when she is waiting she see a moving van pull up and goes to see who's going to be her new neighbors. chapter 2 when Amy gets over to their yard she introduces herself and says that her mom is at work but will come over and meet them when she gets off work. when she gets home she tells her brother Sam about the girl that lives across the street, and he doesn't want to at first but then Amy tells him that she is his age and he jumps up and runs out of the house. then she goes upstairs to her room and calls her friends Lola and Lizzy to come over and they talk about Zack until Amy's mom comes home and she makes a welcoming dinner for them and they take it over to them that day. that's same day Amy starts getting to know Zack better. chapter 3 Zack wakes Amy up and starts talking to her about their date. it may seem like they are going on a date the day after they just met but Zack it persistent and wants to get to know her better, and he wants to get to know her fast. after Zack is done talking to her she tries to go back to sleep but she can't so she takes a shower. after her shower she gets out and finally looks in the mirror and sees her marks that are like fire but the color is black.Complete
