"We're gonna keep this all a secret from Cady, right?" I asked Sam after he wrapped his arm around me. 

"Oh, definitely." 

"You've been going out with my cousin? Since when?!" Cady demanded to know. "I'm sorry!" I apologized. "I was gonna tell you, but-"

"But you have kept it a secret this whole time from me. I'm your best friend, Ally! How come you never said anything?" 

I went silent. 

"It's either going to be me, or Sam." She folded her arms and turned her back against me.

Allison Smith and Cady Evelyns have been best friends since elementary school. Ally is the pretty, popular cheerleader who also models for famous companies such as Victoria's Secret, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc. while Cady wasn't as popular, but always cheering her on on the sidelines. 

Samuel Adams is a talented football player, a jock, a straight A honors student, and not to mention charming. It's hard to believe that he's Cady's cousin, when they seem to be the total opposites of each other. While Sam has made some mistakes in his life, like partying, getting drunk and meeting girls, he meets one who changes his life around for the better.
