"The smoke settled. The dirt and dust in the air stinged at her nostrils. She held her breath and clutched a fistful of her shirt on her chest in anticipation. Her heartbeat booming in her ears. Finally, a cloud of smoke was waved away by a grey claw. Thundering steps were heard on the other side of the mass. They made her knees buckle and in fear she stumbled backward.
