Keen to escape mounting gambling debts and a dead end public relations career in the states, an army veteran accepts a job doing communications for the Governor of Bermuda East. Things go south quickly after she realizes it doesn't appear on any map and that the job she has been hired for is definitely not the one she applied for. Meanwhile, the strangest people keep washing up on the shores of Bermuda East, and she begins to piece together the horrifying history of the tiny Atlantic island. Will she escape the island's impending doom, or stay and help its people win back the future of their home?
Please note: This is a first draft, and will definitely be a bit rough, or incomplete in parts! I aim to post one chapter a week on Tuesdays ... I will probably go back and edit as I go along, though so far I have the basic narrative structure outlined.

She is being held by of one of the many debt-recovery corporations. Held, for leverage, to make Ellie do the corporation a favour. Ellie’s daughter will be returned unharmed if Ellie does as they wish. The son of a company director is lost somewhere in the wilderness of post-debt-restructuring America, and hasn't been seen for three days. The company wants Ellie to go and find the kid, and Ellie doesn't know if she can. The one rule she's stuck to all her working life is to never to go to America, but now she might have to. After that, the world slowly began to fall to pieces and almost every country made a scramble to figure a way to make space travel easier so they could colonize a planet. But a new leader came out of the ashes and proclaimed they would consider the apocalypse a "rebirth" and proceeded (with his advanced engineering) to clear radioactivity from America and make it livable again. With the help of his crew, he builds a high security city and begins to build out past the east coast. Shortly after he rebuilds NY, he disappears and his advisor rises to power. He is a fair but cruel master (calling himself a Lord) and some people refuse to work for him. These people manage to escape the oppression of the Lord and live out on the wasteland that was once a great country. Some band together to make right communities and others rough it out by themselves, scavenging for a living.Complete
