There is a story in Philippine folklore about a mango tree and a bamboo tree. Not being able to agree as to which was the stronger of the two, they called upon the wind to make the decision. The wind blew its hardest. The mango tree stood fast. it would not yield. it knew it was strong and sturdy. It would not sway. It was too proud. It was too sure of itself. But finally, its roots gave way, and it stumbled down. The bamboo tree was wiser. it knew it was not as robust as the mango tree. And so every time the wind blew, it bent its head gracefully. It made loud protestations, but it lets the wind have its way. When finally the wind got tired of blowing, the bamboo tree still stood in all its beauty and grace.

Long ago, an ancient tribe worshipped their giant Gods in exchange for protection and nourishment for the land they lived off of, but then, everything changed when they saw their wrath. All they felt now was fear and even if the fight was between their Gods, it was clear they were all in danger. Many attempts have been made to stop the fighting by peaceful means, but all were ignored. One of the ribe members came forth with an ability to understand the Gods and decided they should no longer have that title. A ritual took place where he sacrificed himself to transform the Gods into what he renamed... The Kaiju. Soon after all the fighting stopped and the Kaiju went into hiding with predictions that they would one day return in their new forms. There will always be the chosen one with the power to understand them but a few tribe members left long ago. As time went on... so did the generations. This is where a little boy sees a city his family was stationed at was attacked by a monster they called... Godzilla.
