When the almighty Kyuubi plays with your mind, its hard to keep your thoughts on track. From experience, Minato and Kushina knew this, which is why the seal is designed with a specific detail. This function enables the host to block all communications with the beast at will. So when Naruto's seal is tampered with by unknown forces, The boy is determined to deal with this on his own, without help from his team. These are his own demons after all- be it metaphorical or literal.
