Ignite
Book 1 in the Trial by Fire Trilogy

It's the year 2122 and earth is a nuclear wasteland. Well, mostly. Parts of North America still stand, a ghostly shell of the land's former glory. What remains of the world's inhabitants are subjected to the rule of the communist dictator Andrei Ilia Volkov, more commonly known as The Great Culnator. After years of oppression, a rebellion has begun to stir but a spark is needed to ignite the fire that will change the world.

Quinn Lidano and Alexander Clerici are two average 18-year-olds trying to eke out an existence in the ruins of what was once Atlanta, Georgia. However, there is more to the two than meets the eye and secrets of the past, many unknown even to them, bind the friends together. Then suddenly they are called upon to assist the rebellion and they find themselves in over their heads in danger and intrigue. Join our two unlikely heroes as they struggle to survive and fight to save those that they love.

Book Two: They encourage, not the realists and the brave, but the gullible and the fragile, those too weak to fight back. They massacre lower and middle-class citizens once every month to control the growing population through a method called Cleansing. They rid of all music except modern pop to eliminate diversity, keeping only one artist from each state in the music industry. They stop anyone from going in or out of the country and kick out all those not born within the now-armed borders. And that's just the beginning of what they call "The Great Reformation," the grand change of the United States government and all of its operations. All because the United Kingdom has turned against the nation and declared war, or so President Nathaniel Carter says. Carter, as the dictator, begins to tell citizens certain things, things that Ryan Tedder and his bandmates, Zach, Eddie, Brent, and Drew, don't actually buy. After all, physicist Niels Bohr once said, "The best weapon of a dictatorship is secrecy." Along with this chaos, Ryan is trying to deal with the stress of Ramona becoming distant due to her past reappearing, and the new rules and regulations making his career walk on a tightrope. The national anthem may say otherwise, but the United States is no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. Not with the new government. Ryan and the other guys are determined to dig through the lies and find the real reason why. © 2016 by Verona Rohellec. Second installment of the Blooming Passion trilogy. Complete. Mature language. Extreme violence. Sensitive topics. Highest Rank(s) - #1 in Totalitarianism (tag) (nice!), #1 in Ryan Tedder (tag) (yay!), #3 in OneRepublic (tag). Thanks to libellule_ for the AMAZING cover! Another to Kim A. for helping with the trilogy's plot. And a thanks to the dedicated members of the OneRepublic fandom who read and give so much support!

#1 Teen Fiction | #1 Young Adult | #1 Romance "We all need someone to drive us mad." - The Wombats. He stared arrogantly down at me, a smirk plastered across his face. I sneered up at him with distaste, wanting to wrap my fingers around his neck and strangle that smirk off of him. He brushed my golden hair from my face, his long, slender fingers sparking electricity in my skin, making my knees wobble together. "Will you ever, forgive me?" he whispered huskily, his eyes intently staring into mine. His face was only mere inches from me. I just needed to reach out a little further to kiss him... "Yeah. Over my dead body." I snapped, before throwing my arms out forcefully, shoving my hands into his chest, pushing him from me. -*-*-*- He, is Carter Williams. I, am Lacey Adams. We were once, inseparable. The 'Golden Couple'. The unbreakable best friends, that everybody envied. Nothing could get between us. A part from being tighter than white on rice, we updated our status from friends to being in a relationship, frequently. We were neighbours, which meant our families were all close and even co-owned houses around our town. This, all is, until the day of my sixteenth birthday. Everything changed. The loving relationship we shared, was severed and torn apart. I couldn't hardly stand to look at him any more, without spitting fire that is. Every day is torture being around him. He was in all my classes at school and the window in my room was even directly aligned with his. So, what happens? My mother's mum gets sick, so dad and her fly out. Just them. Leaving me to stay with Carter and his parents, who are never home. We would be alone. In one house. Under the same roof. If I was insane before, I have no idea what I am now. © 2016 by LaurenJ22. Fire is beautiful. Useful. Warm. And destructive. But it can flicker with the wind, or be put out like a light. Fire needs to be fed to survive. One July morning, a small rebel group led by Miles and Emi conducts a mission against the Supremacy, setting a building ablaze outside the city of Zafran. Miles immediately knows the airport is not a normal target. Something is wrong. Some of the rebels are hiding their true goal. He could ask, but Emi will not answer, and who is he to challenge his partner when he has secrets of his own? On the outskirts of the city, a girl runs from her past. Her memories. Herself. She keeps moving to stay numb, but when she is forced to stop, the voices catch up. If she does not reach somewhere safe soon, she will shatter completely. The Supremacy has plastered the girl's face and name across the city. The only thing protecting young Inerts from their direct violence is their status as Fated, the youngest generation before complete infertility swept the nation. What will it take for the Supremacy to get its hands on those it considers immune to their violence? It all starts with one fire. This is a slow-burn, multiple deep POV literary novel about people who survive by carrying the consequences of their choices. Although the story includes rebellion and action, at its core it is a love story between two individuals on separate sides of a rebellion, and people who all have ties to each other and to one city. ⚡︎ ➹ ☍ Icons correspond to which POV the chapter is narrated by. By 2057, Earth will be a shadow of its former self. Decades of unbridled consumption and climate negligence have left the earth almost desolate. Water, oil, and lush land are relics of the past, valued more than money. All nations have collapsed under the weight of famine, disease, and internal upheaval, leaving only two superpowers: the United States and Russia. They were once reluctant allies but now find themselves embroiled in a deadly, global fight for the planet's few remaining resources. While the population fights to survive in enormous urban wastelands, both regimes use advanced technologies and covert tactics in a desperate push for absolute dominion. During the pandemonium, 17-year-old Caleb Morrow, a scrappy survivor from the ruins of Canada, is conscripted into the US military. Meanwhile, on the other side, Elena Morozova, an 18-year-old Russian conscript hailing from the ruins of Norway, ascends the ranks in the Russian military. As this conflict between the 2 last countries left spirals out of control, the past suddenly begins to rise from the ashes leaving questions to arise in the thoughts of many soldiers on both sides including Caleb and Elena that, if answered, reveals a dark and unsettling truth. Scarcity is a story of curiosity, critical thinking, corruption, and trust in a collapsing world. Make sure to keep your rifle tight as you explore a dark truth... *This story includes mature themes such as: war crimes and heavy violence* *Perspectives will continuously shift between characters in this story* *All pictures are not real sketches*
