Life on The Rascal is perfect for Tesla Barnes. He's got a good job, though its legality is questionable; a good captain, though her morality is questionable; and a good girl, though her humanity chip is questionable. But those were questions that didn't need to be answered.

At least until they hit the strange field of lights.

Soon Tesla finds his life crumbling as the ship begins to fall apart around him--literally. No matter where they go, they can't escape the plague of destruction that follows. Worse, Nell, his cyborg girlfriend, begins to show the same signs of decay. Even worse, the port they landed in is doing the same.

The entire crew is on alert to not just solve the problem, but find out what it is and when it started. There are too many questions and not enough answers. And the top of their lists of questions: survival.
