Alayla is a young woman struggling to find her place in a world where men rule the world ruthlessly. Women are simply seen as either sex objects or slaves, nothing more and nothing less. But when Alayla finally turns nineteen; the age in which she is auctioned to the men. She is sold of to an old geezer who wants nothing more than to use her for his own pleasure.

Running away, Alayla is searched for day and night. She goes to the only place people will never dare search for, the mountains. Finding a precious egg in the mountains she takes it in hope of selling it and leaving far from her wretched town.

But instead ends of stowing away on a pirate ship disguised as a scrawny boy, but when the captain takes notice of an extra crew member, she might not be safe after all, especially with the egg that seems to grow bigger and bigger each day under her care and might just hatch.
