Void Chronicles - Book One: The Primordial Darkness

- July 27th, 4199 -

"Late last night, an unusual event occurred around a city in the northern region. The city of REDACTED was suddenly enveloped by a blinding light that can only be described as a sun. It expanded a large distance, approximately 150 square miles, laying waste to several dome cities as it did. This ball of light began to dissipate approximately an hour later, revealing the damage to the region, however... the location of the city it originated from is different. The central area is covered in a dark purple fog of some form, the city isn't even visible, and all attempts at contact have failed.

We are unsure of what transpired in that city, but we are sure of one thing. This event, it left no survivors, no one caught in that light lived, all that remains are shadows, that is to say... disintegrated remains. We have been looking into the populations of the cities, in order to inform any living relatives of these casualties.

Several missions have been staged already, to enter the strange fog and identify a root cause, but they didn't last long. Within the fog are strange creatures, unlike anything seen in nature, and they are all hostile. That doesn't even go into detail of the mutation... anyone who comes into contact with the fog begins to change, prolonged exposure resulting in extreme mutation, and comatose states.

It is unlikely we will discern what exactly happened on the night of July 26th, we can only hope... that this event will not be the spark that causes a world-wide disaster... we can only hope..."
