Book one in the Imperfect Trillogy.

F means failure. F means freedom. I am the only F.

Mae is a black, and the only black with the F grade tattooed on her shoulder. The reason she is the only one? Because F means freedom. And freedom isn't allowed in the complex. The complex. The place where dreams began. The place you could be safe from war. But when dreams begin, nightmares do to. The complex follows a simple but harsh system. The criminals are the blacks. The non-criminals are whites. Simple, right? But nothing is simple.

Especially not for Maedana, the F. Mae is in constant threat from the place she calls home.

Now a new threat is rising, one that Mae is connected with. And what about the new boy? Is Calix Theon tied in this somehow? And how can Mae protect him? How can Mae fight off the coming war? And more importantly,

What is the real price for Mae's imperfect freedom?

COMPLETED NOVEL!! Demario Bader, after a failed suicide attempt, struggles with self-esteem issues as he adapts to being in a group home, overcomes the scars of his past, and finds love. *********** My name is Demario Bader. And if you think that being a Black teenager is bad while living in Dallas; then take a look into my uncharmed life. 1. I have a dysfunctional family that relies on favoritism over unity. And they loved being bass-ackwards and belly-up as much as they hated me for being straightforward and straitlaced. 2. My domineering mother hated me for being the middle child that she never wanted while my father was a hen-pecked husband who agreed with her on everything she said bad about me. 3. I wasn't bullied in high school, yet I never had any friends (much less bullies) or mentors on my side. 4. And just recently, I had lost my parents, older sisters, and younger brothers to a freak accident before being disowned and my relatives (who were as bad as my mother) never offered to take me into their homes. So where does that leave me? Preparing to end my life with a bottle of antidepressants and some of my father's vodka. But fate in the form of my landlord, my court-ordered therapist, my foster family, and a new love interest had other plans for me. Fate, you had screwed me over one time too many. But I might as well take advantage of this do-over. So...this is your last chance as well as it is mine. ****************** Started: June 7th, 2023 Finished: December 19th, 2023 Total Word Count: 126,752 words!

Through thick and thin the Law shall prevail. A new sense of purpose awaits us, children of light, in the land where it all began. The darkness in which we once cowered in fear, now curbed by the might of our endless light. Come, brothers, come, sisters. Let there be peace among the wicked, just as the Law dictates. Peace and certainty is all that you have ever longed for, little angel. A bright, stable future. A roof without holes above thy head. Acknowledgement and recognition of thy existence, feverish dreams of grandeur. Greed born from yearning, treacherous vines of rapacity taint your innocent soul. You seek a future that does not exist. Let thy fingers hold the fragile line between dream and nightmare. Let thy light navigate the path. Shall thee give in and falter, O' land of old, envelop his body in thy unending flame of chaos. Spit out nothing but an empty husk, the remnants of a smile once so bright. Shall thee prevail, O', Great Kazdel, I ask of you, the impossible - take mercy on the innocent. Don't let the radiance dim and don't let the mind turn bleak. Wake, young traveler. Bid thy farewells and burn thy bridges. It's time to say goodbye, curly head. Cross post from AO3. For a shorter and more on-point description, look no further! I had something silly written up before throwing it out in exchange for that wall of text upstairs. It's a little story "about a young, dumb sankta who's been dealt a bad hand at life, looking for his place in all this mess. The pointless search for a better future leads him far, far away from home, to a country forever ravaged by war and misery - Kazdel, the promised land where devils roam free and peace feels out of place." Anyway, it's quite lengthy, but hopefully enjoyable? Slide a comment if you want, I'll give you a tiny kiss on the forehead. Man, do I love comments. (Lastly, to point out, English is not my native language, but I don't think it'll be much of an issue ;3)
