Layla is an ordinary 15-year-old. She is a nobleman's daughter and her parents expect her to marry young to a rich man. She is perfectly happy to spend life as a Duke's wife, but one morning, while on her daily ride, she is snatched by a Dragon. such things are the stuff of legend, but now Layla has to fit in with the Skyriders, a race of warriors that ride Dragons. They believe that she is the Skyborn, the one who will lead them out of hiding and into a war with the Landwalkers, the people Layla came from.
