A tragic disappearance, an earth shattering death, and an unrelenting menace.
Magicians have only every faced the evil of their own kind and never other-worldly beings, which is why the Mystic Legion was created: to keep the peace and balance, just as the Elementalists would want. But when the Shadow creature is back to terrorize the town once again, not even this elite force of mystical warriors knows what to do.
Of course Leia Rein has faced big things before, being one of the most promising magicians among her group of the Mystic Legion trainees and all; but nothing could ever prepare her for the earth-shattering death that followed three years after the disappearance of her best friend. When this murder occurs, all fingers point to her and even she can't help but do it as well- especially if random snippets of a memory she doesn't remember having begin to appear.
The only real connection she has to solve this murder comes from the fact that the Shadow creature, and the boy who has been missing in her life for the past three years, reappear at the same time. Leia can't help but think that it's not a coincidence. She has to get to the bottom of the creature's origins and what this boy has really been doing these past three years, and that means digging deeper into her best friend's disappearance and following the Shadow creature's every move. In some way Leia knows that the disappearance, the murder, the creature, and the boy are all interrelated, and Leia has to figure out how the hell she's caught in the middle of it all- before the creature can get to her as well, that is.

I don't know who this woman is or what's wrong. She has beautiful silver hair that's matted with leaves and sticks. Her face though beautiful is distraught, her face is a very creamy pale color. Her lips are as red as blood. She has tears running down her face and a bruise just below her left eye. She's holding my necklace. The moonlight shines on the single engraved word "Noel". "Take this." She says, "Noel! Take this and run. Put it around your neck and never, NEVER take it off. It will keep you safe." The woman hears something and turns around to look, then looks back at me with panic and sorrow in her eyes. I hear a male voice behind her mumbling something, I can't make out what he's saying. I can't make out the man's face as he walks up behind the woman and squeezes her shoulders. He takes the necklace wincing and slips it over my head. They're talking to me but I can't hear what they're saying. I only see the panic in their face. "Noel! RUN." I hear screams and growls as I'm running as fast as I can.
