What if Regulus Black liked someone the first time he ever saw her.  The problem:  She'e a year older.  She's a Gryffindor.  She's good friends with his brother.  Against all odds, Chay Stricken, known Order member, and Regulus Black, known Death Eater, have a daughter.  When Chay dies, Regulus knows he must avenge her, and he knows he will leave his daughter orphaned.
