Sam was always quiet. He barely spoke, he didn't socialize, and he spent almost all his time in the school's darkroom, developing his photographs.
Dean didn't care. He didn't care about anyone except his little brother. Anything else was dust in the wind. His mission in life was to protect Sammy long enough to get him to college.
Gabriel created trouble. Sometimes for attention, sometimes for fun. He was popular, in that way where everyone wanted to use his reputation for themselves and didn't need anything else out of him.
Castiel had a condition. Not a disability, but simply a genetic slip-up that caused his senses to get mixed up and heightened. He never made much sense and was generally an outcast in school.
Its the end of the AIDS epidemic, and while gay rights are being fought for more and more, Stockton, California is a small town and you know how these things would turn out in a small town...

During a dangerous case with Sam and Dean something goes wrong and Castiel goes missing, this isn't like the other times Cas has disappeared, this is different, it's strange even for Cas. With Castiel gone Dean doesn't eat or sleep he just drinks and prays wondering if Cas can hear him. Day and night he checks the newspapers and police reports from every city, and county in the US for any sign of the trench coat angel. With no leads things become even more bleaker. Dean throws himself down a hole, and Sam is becoming increasingly worried about about Dean so he seeks out help from from another angel to see if they know anything about the whereabouts of Castiel. Castiel is lost he doesn't know where he is or who he is. He just goes where his feet take him. He never eats or sleeps but he doesn't he have to, he doesn't know why he doesn't eat and it doesn't bother him much cause it would just slow him down. He remembers nothing about Sam or Dean or even himself for that matter, but something is itching at the wall in the back of his head trying to break through, it wants to get out but can't. He gets fragments of things every so often but they are of pain and torture and a redhead he doesn't know the name of. One day a pleasant memory comes through the cracks in his wall he can't place where it came from. The only thing he knows is he needs to find the man with the stunning green eyes.
