Ellie loved the idea of living in a beach house for the entire summer. Her city girl mother, however, did not.

When her dad's business requires them to leave their cushy Brooklyn life for the beachy ways of a small town on the edge of Georgia, Ellie adjusts to the smaller lifestyle quickly.

Soon she's spending her summer days in the glorious ice cream palor on the docks, making fast friends with the quirky staff and funloving manager. Add in crushing customers, late night bonfires, and a gorgeous beach, and it may just be the best summer ever.

But when her mother doesn't agree with her easy adaption, her new life on the docks gets a little rocky. Will Ellie be able to make her mother see past the end of her own nose, or will this problem need a bigger solution than handmade sundaes?

"You shouldn't need to drink to try and drown your feelings Kayla. I've watched the people around me do this all my life and it doesn't fix anything." "I know it won't fix anything, but for right now it helps me forget" "You can't keep running away or hiding. In the end it all catches up." "You sound like you've been through this before." "I guess you could say that." "You want me to open up to you, but are you ever going to open up to me? I want to get to know you Tyler, but you are so closed off. You know why I got knocked over by that wave? Because I was watching you, I was watching your face and seeing how free you felt riding that wave. It's the only time I've ever seen you let go. You know that someone hurt me, but I think you have been hurt too. When you're ready to talk, I'll be waiting. Maybe we can help each other." "Maybe I'm not worth getting to know" he replied. "And maybe I'm not worth you trying to save me either. Or maybe I am" With that I got up and left him to think about what I said. I put my cards on the table, now it was up to him to make the next move. ******** A year ago, Kayla had it all, doting parents and a relationship with her older brother that others envied. By the end of junior year that changed, she's left broken after a series of events in her life, but she is determined to hide her pain from her friends and enjoy the summer. That is until she meets Tyler, who can see right through the hurt. He has his own secrets though and isn't ready to let anyone in. Together they will either fall apart or fall together.

Side Note: I Think I Love You

Side note: never fall for your fake boyfriend. When my best friend convinced me to write a love letter to my crush, I didn't expect it to all go south. Because instead of the most realistic scenario-him reading the letter and rejecting me privately-the last thing I'd ever expected to happen did. The letter doesn't end up in his locker. But in the locker of one of the most popular football players in the senior class, Ian Bale. Who also just happens to be my crush's older brother. Luckily, he promises to keep it a secret. But our actions start spreading rumors about us and in the next minute, I'm thrown into a fake relationship. But it works out for the both of us. Ian saves me from potential embarrassment while I help get his friends off his back about his dating life (or lack thereof). However, as the month progresses, I find myself enjoying more and more of his company. From his cheesy pick-up lines to his sense of wonder and even his nerdy glasses. My priorities begin to shift and I can't help but be a little terrified of the prospect of trusting another guy again. But I think I can make an exception. For fans of Jenny Han, Cookie O'Gorman, and happily ever afters with a sprinkling of real world problems, get ready to dive into the first installment of this beachside romance.
