"Never have I ever-" Nellie paused with a brief look at me, "written a poem for anyone."
We stared at each other for what seemed to be an eternity until Kelly raised her glass and drink up the contents. I followed suit, eye contacts momentarily broken by my raised cups. I couldn't see if she had a sip of her drinks, but I was sure Nellie meant for me to put the two together. Never had the wedding band felt heavy on my finger, and I fought the urge to touch it.
I had known that it wasn't right.
I was married.
I am married.
