The Wendigo is part of the traditional belief systems of various Algonquian-speaking tribes in the northern United States and Canada, most notably the Oijibwe and Saulteaux, the Cree, the Naskapi, and the Innu people. Although descriptions varied somewhat, common to all these cultures was the conception of Wendigos as malevolent, cannibalistic, supernatural beings (manitous) of great spiritual power. They were strongly associated with the winter, the north, and coldness, as well as with famine and starvation.

In a small town in Canada, 5 high school students get together and rent out a small cabin in the woods. At first, the trip is harmless and peaceful, but soon after, the friends begin to notice unusual happenings like complete and utter silence during the night, dead animals appearing around their cabin, and a relentless smell of rotting flesh. The friends begin to suspect that someone or something is watching them, and one by one, the 5 friends undergo changes.

Some more severe than the last...
