*Prologue*
To be entirely honest with you, I never really considered my future. It's not like I needed to...right? Why would you care about jobs and your educational success when you could be scavenging for food, perhaps? I mean what use is your academic future in the apocalypse? 
	Dramatic right? As I sit here, writing this down, I feel a little pathetic.  Although the chance that someone would read my story is incredibly low, I can't help but feel a small glimmer of hope that someone will find it. It would become an instant best-seller! Who wouldn't read the first-hand account of a zombie apocalypse survivor? Even if that day were to arrive, I can guarantee that I won't be alive to see it. 
	The world is a complete and total mess and we are the only ones to blame. Why do you ask? Well, why don't we take a trip down memory lane? First, people alone destroyed the earth with pollution, making it the ultimate playground for the undead. Second, we created the virus that single-handedly destroyed 97% of the human population. When a zombie apocalypse hits the world on its National Thanksgiving, in less than 24 hours, villages, cities, towns, entire countries are wiped out. Gone away into the dust, to never be seen. Nah, they all emerge as mindless angry creatures that would destroy anything in it's path to get a drop of your blood. Zombies. Not just the regular zombies you see in TV. Not the slowpokes, dumb, crazied flesh-eating monsters. No, these zombies can see, smell, run, climb, they can imitate and God help us they understand and not simply imitate. What happens when these zombies begin to gain intelligence? Every living thing evolves and if it doesn't; it's not worthy of being called 'living'. So when the remaining of humanity remains unmoving, stagnant but the zombies keep growing in mass, intelligence, strength; living. Living on the bare minimum, working your back, seeing loved ones day every single day, hearing screams of help from all around you but knowing how you couldn't do anything. This is a world where surviving wasn't... surviving. Living hurts. This is a world where even horror die-hard fans would rather not be in. For you to live, you have to be insane. And thankfully for one of our characters, they've gone insane.

To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden.
