He was abandoned by his parents, forced to live with ihs abusive, alcoholic foster father. The only thing he has or loves is his car and the races. Plenty of people like him, but he has a very tight knit group, not even trusting them all. He's broken. Her parents died, forving her to live with her aunt in a new town. She practically lives alone as her Aunt is never around. She's a racer. She raced in her home town and soon falls into the racer crowd.
