The Shallow Places (ON HOLD)

Gabrielle Mackie is a Survivor; sixteen years old and alone in the world. She lives in a world full of Stillwalkers, where every step could be dangerous and unsafe. Gabrielle's only companion is her dog Juno, a black lab that has been by her side for the four years she has lived alone. She lives a life of safety and security, and does not take chances, even if it means going hungry for a few nights. She refuses to believe that the Stillwalkers are at all human, and would rather keep her distance from them.
When she meets four teenagers who are young and reckless and lacking in experience, Gabrielle is in for a world of trouble that threatens everything she knows about survival. One of those teenagers is none other than Zane Burkley, an ill-tempered hothead who believes that the Stillwalkers still possess a human soul. Unwillingly, she goes along with the four, testing the abilities of the monsters that crave their warm flesh and still-beating heart. Yet the Stillwalkers are not to be tested, and now Gabrielle's determination is only driven by her true will to survive.
