She's been running her entire life, or at least the day her powers started kicking in. But running isn't so easy when you've been trained to use your skills to help protect the less fortunate. Marla Anne is torn between the world she knows and loves, crime fighting, and the simple life of a teacher. But isn't that the reason she left the X-men seven years ago? She gave it up for her brother, or so she thought. She wants more, and the mystery behind the "Scarlet Killer" is just the thing to quench her thirst for justice.

Author's Notes: The first chapter, or at least the page after this, is kind of like a "behind the scenes" for the true story. And, erm, so is the second chapter...Feel free to skip if you want, I've just been sitting on this story forever so wanted to kind of test drive it, so to speak. Enjoy!
