For many years, Razan Eldgrímr had fed and nurtured a single dream: to reach a sky that didn't exist in her homeworld of Nidavellir. Despite being a wingless snake-shifter living underground in eternal darkness, her dream was strong and her hope was intact. In the neighboring realm of Midgard was the sky she wanted so desperately and, perhaps, an opportunity to gain the magic she needed to climb into it. This dream was her single consolation, until disaster struck in her first outing to Midgard. Her memory wiped clean of whatever incident had occurred, Razan was haunted by the calamity that struck. Ever since the unremembered accident, her snake companion stopped speaking to her. She began to hear voices in her dreams; voices that she knew but had forgotten. A strange tattoo-like marking appeared on the back of her neck, shaped like a snake swallowing its tail. The same week of the incident, Razan flew into a rage and murdered a boy, with not even a single memory of the catastrophe except for fully transforming into a serpent. And everything came crashing down. -- Inspired by myths ranging from Norse legends to good, old-fashioned magic.(Dedicated to Sausage and Toast, the greatest breakfast combination ever.
