Twilight has survived the Hunger Games - but not won them. She has remembered her country - but not liberated it. And Luna has brought on eternal night.

Being safe housed in the Crystal Empire was never part of her plan. But at least her friends are with her, she's an alicorn again, and she can remember a life she never thought she'd remember again. But it all comes at a price - freeing Equestria with the help of Princess Cadence and the rest of the Crystal Empire. And Shining Armor, her brother. But is Twilight willing to be a pawn in this grand game of memory? Will the power of friendship free a country lost for a three years that might as well have been an eternity? Or will Luna - now Nightmare Moon - succeed again?
