When Natalie goes searching for her lost dog, Jack in the woods, she encounters a mysterious figure which spirals her into a hidden clan of warriors on the brink of distinction. A voice in her head keeps nudging her to scale a mountain she knows she should not climb. Placed in the middle of war, she's forced to cooperate with Elijah, a boy from school who she considers her arch nemesis. Natalie finds herself questioning her faith and the assumptions she's made about Christianity.
After the dust settles, Natalie must choose where her trust lies. Are the demons that hide in the mountains greater than the one who claims to have created them?
