I gripped the cold metal railing in one hand. I hoisted my left leg over, then my right. Now i'm standing on the wrong side of the bridge. A chill wind rushes by me leaving me to shiver. I don't plan on saying goodbye, because they don't deserve it. I didn't write a 'fuck you' letter either, because i know what it's like to go through pain. Nobody should ever have to go though that. I don't think much about it anymore, i've thought to much in the past. I over think everything, but not now. I'm not worried if there's a Heaven or a Hell. Anything will be better than this life. So without anymore thought i let go and fall into the darkness of the night waiting for the water to consume me. I crash into the ice cold water. It feels like a million broken shards of glass hit me all around. The wind gets knocked out of me and i can't breathe. Unlike the movies i don't see my life flash before my eyes. All i see is darkness --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I got into another fucking bar fight mom's gonna kill me. The wind rushes past me so i go to pull my jacket tighter around me. I wince when my bloodied up hand touches the cold metal of the zipper. I'm almost half way there by the bridge when i see a shadowy figure on the side of the bridge. I try to look closer so i can figure out what it is. Shit..... It's a person. I run over to the bank just as soon as they jump. I dive in. Damn the water feels like needles everywhere. I pop out of the top and spot the person under. I dive down and drag them out through the ice cold water. I pull us up to shore and look at the person for the first time under the little light the street light provides

Remi has always loved the forest, the different sounds, smells, the way she could get lost in it and never have to go home to her non-existent parents. She goes in and out of her life with her best friend everyday just waiting until they're both old enough to leave their small boring town. But one day Remi is attacked, and nearly killed, by a man in the forest. When she wakes up everything's different. She feels something inside her, a power, but she has no idea what happened to her. All she remembers is the man's strange yellow eyes. When three new boys show up at her school, one with yellow eyes, asking her question she gets nervous. And then one night while heading to go get her friend she's taken and thrown into a world she didn't know existed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Remi?" Jen says suddenly. "Hmm?" I hum back. "Do you ever wish you could just live in the forest? Away from everyone and everything?" She looks at me. "Free." We stare at each other for a long time. I see the real meaning in Jen's eyes. Her worries for going home to her overly strict parents. Her fears for the future and the unknown in general. "If we lived in the forest we wouldn't have gummy bears any more." I comment to lighten the mood. She doesn't find it funny. "I'm serious Remi! What if we did run away?" "Jen, we can't just run away. I know your parents are strict but I truly think they just want what's best for you." She says nothing. For a moment I fear she's mad at me but then she puts her head on my shoulder and I know we're okay.
